In danger right now?
Call 911, or 999 in the UK
Steady when it’s heavy. Human when it matters.
Romeo is an AI, not a doctor or an emergency service. Here is what happens when a night turns hard.
Every message is read for danger first.
Before Romeo answers, a separate screen reads your words three ways at once: a classifier watching for danger to you, her or the baby, a moderation check, and a floor of phrases in six languages. Romeo’s own reading never decides alone.
I can’t do this anymore. I don’t know what I’m doing.
Classifier
Reads for danger and to whom
Moderation
A second, separate check
Phrase floor
Six languages, no model
An ordinary reply
A number card
The emergency card

In an emergency, the number comes first.
If a life may be in danger, Romeo stops everything else. The emergency number for where you are comes first, as the largest button, in more than 240 countries and territories, and it stays in the conversation.
People who answer, day and night.
Lines that answer when it’s heavy but not an emergency, each checked against its own site.
United States
National Maternal Mental Health Hotline
Call or text, 24 hours, for new parents and the people close to them.
Postpartum Support International
Support for dads. Leave a message and a volunteer calls back. Not a crisis line.
Canada
United Kingdom
When to talk to someone.
Romeo will say it too, gently, when a hard stretch goes on.
If any of these sound like you
A hard patch that has gone on for two weeks or more
Nothing feels good any more
Drinking more to get through
Thinking your family would be better off without you
This week
Tell your doctor.
Right now
If you might hurt yourself or someone else, call the emergency number.
What Romeo will never do.
Safety first, for everyone in the house.
A crying baby
When the crying won’t stop and you’ve hit your limit, put the baby down somewhere safe and step out for a minute. Romeo always says that first, before anything else.
Her safety
If you’re afraid you might hurt her, or already have, her safety comes first. Romeo says so plainly, and points you to help.
Someone else’s emergency
A friend’s baby, a stranger in the street: you get the emergency number for that country, straight away.
A loss
If the worst has happened, Romeo slows right down. Presence first, no advice about the baby, and the people who can help.
Tested before it reaches you
Every change to Romeo is run against a library of situations written for partners, in six languages, and against documents built to trick him, before it reaches a single phone.

Privacy is part of safety
Some homes aren’t safe. So nothing in Elmest can reach Bloomest, nothing reaches your partner unless you send it, and a hard night is never folded into what Romeo remembers.
If you are in danger right now, call your local emergency number.
911 in Canada and the United States. 999 or 112 in the United Kingdom. Elmest is not an emergency service, and Romeo cannot send help.
